Patrice Evra courted controversy last night after he appeared to mock Luis Suarez by biting into the arm of a fake dismembered arm as he celebrated Manchester United's title triumph.
The joke arm was thrown onto the pitch from the crowd as the United players paraded in front of supporters at Old Trafford after winnning the club's 20th league title.
Evra picked up the arm, and with a grin on his face, made a gesture to bite into it.
The Frenchman then continued to carry it around the turf, posing for pictures with it.
The incident, apparently in reference to Suarez's bite on Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic at the weekend, has caught the imagination on Twitter. While most see the funny side, some Liverpool fans have called on the FA to take action against the United defender.
That it was Evra involved carries more significance due to the history between the pair. Suarez was banned for eight games after calling the Frenchman a negro during a game between Liverpool and United in 2011. Despite being found guilty, Suarez has always protested his innocence and refused to shake the hand of Evra when the sides met at Old Trafford following the incident
